Project status
With a focus on ecological connectivity and forest enhancement, 4Nature is restoring and managing this 5.4-hectare site just north of Hechtel-Eksel, Belgium. Situated on the edge of Bosland National Park, the project strengthens habitat links, reduces landscape fragmentation, and supports the development of natural corridors for native wildlife. By improving forest structure and planting native species, this effort contributes to the broader ecological function of one of Belgium’s most important natural areas.
Key benefits of this restoration project include:
- Improved forest health through active and ongoing management
- Strengthening of ecological corridors and connectivity to Bosland
- Recovery of native plant species and increased biodiversity
- Enhanced habitat for native fauna, including mammals, birds, and pollinators
- Local carbon capture to support climate goals
- Stabilised soils and improved ground-level ecosystem function
- Contribution to long-term conservation of the Bosland region
The site not only boosts the resilience of the surrounding landscape but also creates additional space for nature to flourish and for local communities to engage with a living, connected woodland.
